My name is David Kneale. I've been working as a graphic designer since 1995. My current full time position is with the Australian School of Applied Management. It involves a full re-branding program including logo design, art direction, website design and development, search engine optimisation, social media strategy management and all print material design. Previous full time positions include working as head graphic designer and web developer for World Challenge, Travelbound and Edwin Doran Sports Tours Asia Pacific (2011-2013), African Wildlife Safaris and Natural Focus Safaris (2006-2011) and CMI Music and Audio Australia (2001-2006).
I also have ongoing freelance branding, print and web design projects, including work for Bhutan Travel Bureau since 2006, and as head of marketing and design for Amulet Luxury Travel.
I keep busy, always looking for ways to improve the way things look, how they work, and how well they speak to people. Design is never finished. It is always evolving.
I have always had an strong interest in photography. Particularly wildlife photography with several recent trips to Africa including Botswana, Kenya, Rwanda, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
Brand building sounds straight forward, but it doesn’t happen overnight. It goes beyond simply creating a logo. It is a strategic investment in providing a truly cohesive experience that will separate you from your competitors, and provide you with a perfect identity that you are proud to be the owner of. When developing new brands, consultation is key to ensuring that a company’s values, products and services are successfully conveyed in their communications, and that those messages reach the market in a target-oriented way. Existing brands are reassessed with regard to their attractiveness, market position, overall brand recognition and communications. These results then form the basis for creating a methodology to recalibrate the brand.
Your visual identity speaks volumes to your customers. Every aspect of your communication - from the colours you choose to the font or graphics - tells your customers your story. With print design I know the importance of getting it right first time and deliver pixel perfect artwork for production. I combine my eye for design with my knowledge of the print process to make the finished job meet all expectations, and feel as good as it looks. My goal is to not only make ideas visible, but to intensify meaning, experience and understanding through effective visual communication. To me this as common sense.
With an ever-growing number of platforms it’s important that your brand experience remains consistent. I understand how to deliver across multiple devices and create user experiences that engage and are intuitive, usable, encourage interaction, and precisely reflect your brand values. I work with every aspect of website design and development, from designing user interfaces that are beautiful and functional to developing the front-end requirements using clean and efficient code including HTML5, CSS3, Wordpress and jQuery. I can also provide consultancy and strategy development for search engine optimisation programs and social media campaigns.
